Meet Ali Pontini, your Tour Leader from London to Singapore.

Ali has been part of the Sundowners Overland team since 2018 and has led tours extensively through Central Asia, along the Trans-Mongolian Railway and through the Caucasus, which has led her to develop a deep passion for the region Silk Road cultures, arts, and history. Ali’s comfort in travelling through these areas ensures that she is able to seek out ways with clients to gain a new perspective and insight into the world and its inhabitants.

Ali loves spending time in nature and is often found hiking in the mountains or travelling by bike which also contributes to her deep-seated beliefs in sustainable and responsible travel. Her other passion is talking about and exploring new cuisines. She is a cold-water dips lover and obsessed with anthropology. Through these destinations it will be a fascinating combination and lead to engaging conversations.

Her enthusiasm for leading this journey is palpable, "After tour leading through 25 different countries in the past 10 years, I couldn’t be more happy, thrilled, and excited to lead the 60th anniversary tour through half of the earth’s length! This tour not only celebrates the values, and expertise of the company, the places we will visit, and the people we will be meeting but also honoured one of my biggest dreams: overland through the entire length of one of the Silk Road paths".
