Enjoy Russia`s sights and bites during the funniest festival annually held in the country: Maslenitsa festival, also referred to as `pancake week` or `butter week`. It celebrates the arrival of spring with seven days of eating lots of round and golden pancakes, or blinis, that symbolise the sun. There is a huge variety of blinis to try, so choose your favourite filling, whether you like it sweet or prefer some more traditional fillings such as caviar or mushrooms. Besides eating, enjoy dance and music performances, or if you`re feeling adventurous, have a go at sledding, snowball fights, ice skating or cross-country skiing. Warm up by big bonfires on the last day of the seven-day event as you say goodbye to a burning Lady Maslenitsa and left-over blinis, marking the end of winter.
