Horse Festival

Every year horse-mad Turkmenistan starts off the Turkmen Horse Festival with a beauty pageant for the Akhal-Teke horse, the national symbol of the country and according to some, the oldest horse breed in the world. Later in the day horse races takes place which indicates the start of the nation`s favourite season, horse-racing season. Take the opportunity to admire the beautiful Akhal-Teke horses with their long back and small head and incredible speed. Bet on your favourite horse, join in the excitement and shout your lungs out as you cheer on the jockeys as they race around the course in the magnificent Ashgabat hippodrome.
