Not far from here you will have the chance to witness the pomp and ceremony of what must be the most fascinating border closing ceremony anywhere in the world at India's border with Pakistan.

Heading back east and on past Delhi you will then journey off the beaten track to discover extraordinarily intricate temple art at Khajuraho, before making a pilgrimage to the Taj Mahal, continually acclaimed as one of the most spectacular wonders in the worldtoday.

Your next stop is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the holiest places in India. Visiting Varanasi is an intense and rewarding experience, where rituals of life and death are performed by pilgrims from throughout the land.

Returning to the foothills of the Himalaya, this time in West Bengal, you will visit the city of Darjeeling, surrounded by tea plantations and with a dramatic backdrop of Himalayan peaks.Enjoy the cool mountain air as you wander the through the colonial buildings,Buddhist temples and tea plantations.
